Develoment Ministry is serious about Total Saniation Campaign
TSC
is being implemented in 578 districts spread across 30 states across
entire rural India with the objective of ensuring full sanitation
coverage by 2012 by providing sanitation facilities in all individual
households, schools, anganwadis
Of
the 138.2 million rural households in India as per 2001 census nearly
37667270 household toilets including 21728684 toilets for people
living below poverty line and 11725 community sanitation complexes
for poor, landless labourers and women have been constructed under
TSC. These have been constructed with a total financial outlay of
Rs. 1342397 lakhs with a central share of Rs. 844588 lakhs and State
share of Rs. 297476 lakhs respectively. Significantly the success
of the TSC lies in the fact that the community has contributed Rs.
200333 lakhs in the total financial outlay for TSC.
